About This Tour

This is one of three suggested half-day routes — each one private and fully customizable. Want to mix stops from different routes or add your own? Just tell us when booking.

The route is built around viewpoints. It starts at Pico dos Barcelos looking over Funchal, then climbs to Eira do Serrado, the balcony viewpoint above the Curral das Freiras valley — one of the most dramatic enclosed landscapes on the island.

From the mountains the route drops back to the coast for Cabo Girão and its glass-floored skywalk, then ends in Câmara de Lobos, the fishing village where the traditional boats are still pulled up onto the pebbles.

This tour suits travellers who want the big views without a long drive, photographers working with a limited window, and visitors who prefer to stay close to Funchal while still seeing the island's dramatic interior.

Itinerary

The stops below follow the usual flow of the day. Order and timing stay flexible: weather, road conditions, closures, safety and your own preferences all shape the final route, and we adjust as we go rather than forcing a fixed schedule.

A roadside viewpoint with a panoramic view over Funchal, the harbour and the south coast.

  4. Câmara de Lobos

A working fishing village of painted boats and narrow lanes, and the place where Madeira's poncha tradition is strongest.
